Dating from 1871, Exford Church of England First School is a small West Somerset village school serving a rural community in the heart of Exmoor National Park. The nearest town is Minehead, some 14 miles away. It is a Voluntary Controlled school, and is financially provided for by the Local Education Authority. We have about 35 pupils aged from 4 to 9 years. Set in a lively, caring community, we also have a close relationship with the Church and with the National Park Authority.

The school is well-appointed, and has been developed and improved over the years with the support of government funds, supplemented by grants from charities and locally-raised funds.

In 2001, work was finished on a wonderful new wing on the main building, which comprises the junior classroom, an Information Technology room, an office, secure entrance and new toilets for the children, and one for adults, which also is designed for disabled access.

Early in 2005 we created a separate play area for the infants, with the remainder of the play area for the junior pupils. There is also a playing field, and the village hall is used for indoor activities.

Parents of prospective pupils are welcome to visit the school and meet pupils and staff.

Please contact us if you have any questions about the school which are not answered on this web site.
